I am Holly and I was diagnosed with Poly-cystic Ovarian Syndrome in December of 2010. The diagnosis came at a time when my husband, Chris, and I were in the midst of a long struggle to start a family. We experienced joy 7 months later when we learned we were pregnant with our first child, Simon. PCOS continues to impact my body and I hope to use this blog as a place to document the ways it has become a part of my story.

added benefits
so there are some things about this gluten free/dairy free torture test. just eliminating those things from my diet has allowed me to lose some weight! what girl doesn't love that?!? i'm still eating a lot (i feel that way at least). i'm even enjoying some foods (gasp!). with all that eating though, i've managed to lose about 7.5 lbs. it's kind of amazing actually. i've felt stuck for the last couple years, feeling like my weight has slooooowly been on the rise. i've put about 10 lbs on since my wedding and i just hate that. for the most part i'm still in the same clothes, i just have a little softer cushion. so this whole diet thing has been great. i realize that most of what was stuck on my body in extra weight was really due to inflammation from the foods i shouldn't be eating. my blood sugar levels, though (according to my doctor) not totally bad, obviously were keeping me from going below that plateau. now i'm getting there, even with just a minimum amount of exercise. i'd like to ramp up my routine, hopefully to improve the tone of my figure, but i am happy to say goodbye to those unwanted lbs. and hello to this super cute pair of shorts i havent worn in 5 years. hopefully i start to see some other benefits soon too (ahem, period you are due to make an appearance next monday).
