6 more weeks...feels like forever

on one hand, i can't believe there are only 6 more weeks remaining until we get to meet our little boy. the last 34 are a bit of a blur. it doesn't feel like that long ago that chris and i were sitting up in the guest bedroom at the cottage trying to remember what the two lines meant on the pregnancy test (note: never take just the test sans instructions with you on a trip if you anticipate needing to use it...or at least read the instructions in advance so you know whether two lines is positive or whether you're looking for a plus or something else. if you don't you'll need to take another test two days later to confirm). since that day in july, we have experienced a whirlwind of excitement--all the planning and preparation and sharing with family, friends, coworkers. it's been a bit overwhelming at times. i've never been on the receiving end of such love for a person no one--not even me--has met. it's incredible.
on the other hand, it feels like the next 6 weeks might never pass. i'm thankful to have the time because there's a lot to do before he is scheduled to arrive. we still haven't finished our birthing class. we haven't finalized our plans with the doula. we don't have our birth wishes complete. we don't even have a carseat/stroller/crib mattress. if this child came tomorrow, we'd be stuck at the hospital for a few days until we got our act together. on top of that, chris has a ton of work to do and lots of travelling to finish before march. i have several contracts that are due. so maybe another 6 weeks will be a good thing. some days i don't think i'll make it. my body is growing weary. i can tell things are changing. i look forward to having my body back so i can move again without worrying about going into labor. but i also want this baby to be totally finished developing.
the next 6 weeks might take an eternity. 27 more work days. 42 more days until baby. 6 more birth classes. 1 weekend away. 1 weekend with cousins in town (yay!). 5 more doctor appointments. lots of numbers, but the only one i care about is 3/19/2012. come quickly.
